Unless = except if.
“I won’t go unless you come too” (I won’t go if you don’t come with me)

Persuade someone TO do something = convince.
“My teacher persuaded me to do the exam”

Do someone a favour = do something for someone even though you don’t have to.
“Can you do me a favour?”

Remind = to make sure somebody else doesn’t forget something.
“Can you remind me to call the restaurant to book a table?” (please, make sure I don’t forget to call them or we won’t eat there!)

Remember ≠ forget.
“Remember to take your passport” (don’t forget your passport!)

Part 1.
Now I’m going to ask you a few questions about PART 1.
You can pause the recording to answer the questions out loud, so you can practice speaking.
Then, play it again and continue.

In number one, at the end of the notice. Can you see ‘at least’? Can you tell me a synonym?
A synonym for ‘at least’ is ‘minimum.’

In number 3, what is a laboratory?
A laboratory, or lab, is a place where scientists conduct experiments.

In number 4, we can see the verb ‘WAKE’ in the 3rd line. Can you tell me its past simple and past participle?
Wake – woke – woken.

And in the 4th line, Can you see the verb ‘LEAVE’? Can you tell me its past simple and past participle?
Leave – left – left.

And, also in number 4, in the letter C., do you know what ‘remind’ means?
It means that you help someone remember something that they may have forgotten.
For example, ‘can you remind me to pay for the parking?’

Do you know the difference between ‘REMEMBER’ and ‘REMIND’?
‘Remember’ means recalling something you already know or have experienced.
For example, ‘I remember those holidays.’

‘Remind’ means that you help someone remember something.
For example, ‘I need to remind my brother to call his friend.’
