Used to / be used to / get used to

Used to + infinitive
Used to talk about a past situation that is no longer true.

This one can only be used in the past sentence.

I used to run every day, but I had to stop.

We didn’t use to sleep well because of the noise.

Be used to + verb + ING
Be used to + noun / pronoun
‘to be familiar with’ or ‘to be accustomed to’.

This one can be used in the past, present or future tense.

I’m used to waking up early every day. – I’m used to it.
I’m used to London now. I like it.

We were used to going to the gym together. – We were used to it.

He’s not used to talking in public. – He’s not used to it.

She wasn’t used to eating so much. – She wasn’t used to it.

Get used to + verb + ING
Get used to + noun/pronoun
to become familiar with something.

This one can be used in the past, present or future tense.

I’m getting used to living in London. = I’m getting used to it.
I’m getting used to the city.

They got used to their new jobs pretty quickly.

It didn’t take her long to get used to running every day.
